Competing successfully for large, multi-institution, multi-agency and industry money requires considerable effort prior to the proposal writing stage. CEOA was funded to support such efforts involving researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Research funding challenges and opportunities call for creating a similar, but broader effort for the rest of UCSD.

The RII office, established in September of 2006 by Chancellor Marye Anne Fox, will provide vision, leadership, and staff to help the campus respond to complex RFPs, incubate large program concepts, and help secure appropriate funding for new programs. Management is co-located with CEOA to ensure staff efficiencies.
